Wren Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Wren on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and when you visit nestboxapps.com. Wren is made by NestBox Apps (“we”).

In short

Wren does not collect personal data. We do not receive your tasks, files, settings or any information about how you use the app. Wren has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.

Your tasks and files

Wren works with markdown files in a folder you choose. The app reads and changes these files only on your device. If the folder is in iCloud Drive, Apple syncs it between your devices under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We have no access to it.

Settings sync

Wren keeps its settings, such as your list of vaults, list colors and icons, groups, statuses and app preferences, in iCloud key-value storage linked to your Apple Account, so they are the same on all your devices. This storage is provided by Apple, and we cannot read it.

Notifications

Reminders for due tasks are scheduled on your device by the system. Wren asks for permission before sending notifications.

Mail integration on Mac

Mail integration is optional and off by default. When you turn it on, macOS asks you to allow Wren to control Apple Mail. Wren then reads the messages you flag in Mail on your Mac (the subject, sender, date and the beginning of the text) and writes them as tasks into the file you choose. This information stays in your files and is never sent to us.

Widgets, Share menu and Shortcuts

Widgets, the Share extension and Shortcuts work with the same files on your device and do not send data anywhere.

Purchases

Wren Pro, Wren Support and Wren Karma are sold through the App Store. Apple processes payments, and we never see your payment details. Apple gives us sales reports that do not identify you.

Third parties

Wren does not share data with third parties. The only outside services involved are Apple’s own: iCloud, the App Store and the system notification service, which you use under Apple’s terms.

Storage and deletion

We store no data from the app, so there is nothing for us to delete. Your tasks are your own files: you can move, edit or delete them at any time. To remove synced settings, delete Wren from all your devices or turn off iCloud for Wren in your device settings.

You can change any permission at any time in system settings:

  • Notifications: Settings → Notifications → Wren on iPhone and iPad, System Settings → Notifications → Wren on Mac.
  • Mail integration: turn it off in Wren’s settings, or remove Wren in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation.
  • Folder access: choose another folder in Wren’s settings, or remove the vault from the app.

Contacting support

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to answer you and delete the correspondence on request.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying visitors: it records the page, the referring site, the country, and the browser and device type. Children

Wren collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. If Wren ever starts collecting data, we will update this policy before the app version that does so is released.
